As a member of your local Chamber, you are being invited to participate in a very short survey regarding the impact of community safety issues frequently associated with homelessness, mental health and/or addiction and how these issues may/may not be impacting your organization.
In partnership with 17 other Chambers across the network (listed below), your Chamber has volunteered to participate as a member of a Social Action Working Group (SAWG) as an ad hoc committee of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. Through our members, we see how social issues impact economic development and believe healthy communities support prosperity for everyone.
In the preliminary rollout of this survey, we identified three things we need to validate:
- 75% of respondents confirmed they are impacted by community safety issues
- 76% of respondents are located outside of a Downtown/BIA district
- those affected have spent an undocumented $4.7 million in related expenses over the past 5 years
Our goal is to gather sector & zoning demographics along with high level financial cost data to determine whether the issue of community safety justifies a provincial voice from the Chamber network at Queen's Park.
Your responses will remain anonymous.
Social Action Working Group members represent Chambers & Boards of Trade from the communities of
