Chamber News
Stay informed and discover the latest happenings in Belleville, Ontario with the Belleville Chamber of Commerce News.
The big news this week was, of course, that Belleville will be hosting Rogers Hometown Hockey in February and the events leading up to and including that weekend will be coordinated through the Chamber's contract with the City! Save the dates of February 24, 25... and watch for the fun to begin as the excitement builds!
We're also looking forward to our annual mingle at Capers, hosted once again by Tipper Financial Services - next Thursday, September 14... 5-7 pm. Roli Tipper has been actively sending us information regarding the pending federal corporate tax changes - check the website under Members for more information on the impact this might have on your business and family - and we will be happy to engage in a conversation about this next week.
On Monday, September 11 - I will be presenting feedback on the topic of the Vacant Unit Rebate. The Chamber was engaged by the City to provide input on the possibility of repealing the rebate. We conducted a survey of our members and I attended the public meeting as well. Our members have asked for either a status quo or reasonable use of the rebate approach.
We are also gearing up for Business Week October 16-20 and the deadline for nominees for the Quinte Business Achievement Awards is today... (if you were nominated, congratulations! We hope you completed the application)
Earlier this week we had nearly 30 Belleville businesses already represented in a variety of categories... great work!
For more information, check out www.qbaa.ca and keep an eye out for the different sessions being arranged. Of course, we launch with the Mayor's breakfast and end with the Awards gala...
It's going to be a busy Fall!
Hope to see you next week!
