PROM PROJECT IS BACK!

Now that school formal events are back and running, local teens will once again be able to experience the excitement of attending their graduation and prom celebrations. For some, it is difficult to be able to afford that perfect dress or suit to mark the occasion, however thanks to a new partnership between My Sister’s Boutique, The Children’s Foundation and the Quinte Mall, Prom Project is Back!

Prom Project was previously organized by the Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation in order to assist students facing socioeconomic challenges by providing them with gently used formal wear free of charge. Due to the covid-19 pandemic, formal school events and Prom Project have not taken place in the last couple of years however that is no longer the case!

From now until April 15th, 2023, Prom Project is looking for the community’s support by donating your gently used formal wear to My Sister’s Boutique located in the Quinte Mall. “We are looking for both men’s and women’s formal attire in all sizes including dresses, suits, dress shirts, ties, shoes, or accessories such as jewelry, belts, and clutches”. Says co-owner of My Sister’s Boutique, Sarah Routhier-Clark. “We believe that each and every student should feel stunning and confident so they can attend their special school occasions free from financial barriers.”

My Sister’s boutique opened recently in the Quinte Mall and is a family-owned dress rental boutique that is focused on affordability, sustainability, and a customer-focused approach. “Our mission is to empower people to feel amazing for the special events without the cost of buying expensive dresses.

Why buy a dress that you will only wear once, when you can rent it?”
“This initiative aligns with The Children’s Foundation vision that no youth will do without positive experiences and equal opportunity to help them realize their potential,” says TCF Executive Director Melanie Cressman. “The expense of Prom is prohibitive for many – and we are thrilled to partner in a way that removes the expense of a dress or suit so that more youth can afford the experience”

Prom Project giveaway days will take place at My Sister’s Boutique located in the Quinte Mall in April 2023 so students can choose their free attire for their proms or graduations.
