During an emotional press conference on Thursday, April 22, Premier Ford offered an apology to the residents of Ontario, saying "we moved fast to put measures in place to reduce mobility". Ford went on to say "... we got it wrong. I know we made a mistake and for that I am sorry..."
He apologized for increasing the measures made to reduce mobility, especially those taken through increasing the powers for police enforcement of those restrictions.
Ford also annouced that the provincial government would be working to bridge the gap left by the federal government's budget in the sick-leave program available to Ontario workers. Ford said that people should have not have to worry about losing their job or their income if they are required to quarantine. Currently, the federal program states that the first payment will be accessible about 28 days from the time you apply for the benefit.
