Hastings and Prince Edward Counties (HPEC) are now in Stage 3 of the province’s gradual reopening plan. This means that most local establishments are permitted to resume operations, as long as appropriate infection control procedures are in place. To further protect the health of the public, face coverings are mandatory in indoor public spaces. Follow these tips to ensure you are using your face covering safely:
Emerging evidence shows that wearing face coverings can help protect others around you from your respiratory droplets. However, wearing a face covering has not been proven to protect the individual wearing it. Wearing a face covering does not replace the need for physical distancing. When in public spaces, please continue to maintain 2 metres of distance from others, and wash your hands frequently. We continue to recognize that certain individuals may be unable to wear or access a face covering. HPEPH does not expect establishments to request proof of exemption from these individuals. HPEPH expects and requests the cooperation of employers, employees, and community members, in carrying these instructions out with respect and kindness.
