Hastings Manor employee tests positive

Hastings County advised today that an employee at Hastings Manor in the City of Belleville has tested positive for COVID-19.

Staff at the Manor were advised of the lab-confirmed test late yesterday afternoon. Manor officials immediately contacted Hastings Prince Edward Public Health of the situation.
On March 30th, an employee who reported for work failed the active screening process and was sent home. The employee at no time entered the Manor. The employee subsequently sought medical assistance, was tested and determined to be COVID-19 positive. At the direction of Public Health, the employee is now in self-isolation. Prior to the 30th the employee exhibited no symptoms and passed the screening protocol.

As a result of the coordinated efforts between Hasting Manor and Public Health, a further six (6) employees have been identified as close contacts and have been directed to enter into 14 days of self-isolation and to monitor their health.
“I want to make it clear that at this time no resident in Hastings Manor has tested positive for COVID-19 and we continue to monitor all of our residents in accordance with the protocols set out by the Ministry of Health,” stated Debbie Rollins, Director of Long Term Care for Hastings County.

“I want to thank the quick work of Hastings Manor staff for their efforts and assistance. I also need to acknowledge the cooperation of the employee who has tested positive. This greatly helped with our investigative work,” said Dr. Piotr Oglaza, Medical Officer of Health for Hastings Prince Edward Public Health.

“On behalf of my County Council colleagues and all of the staff I want wish our Manor employee, who is now off with the virus, a speedy return to good health. To all of the staff now going into self-isolation, please know we are also thinking of you and hoping you stay well,” said Rick Phillips Warden of Hastings County.
