This morning my desk is a round table at the Ontario Chamber of Commerce AGM and annual conference. This is where the role of the Chamber aligns with advocacy and how we guide the provincial direction of influence at Queen's Park. Our Board President, Suzanne Hunt is also with me.
With the upcoming provincial election, you can be assured we will be hearing from the leaders of each party... and we will be spending a solid 3 hours tomorrow identifying the issues the OCC staff will research and lobby on our behalf.
In the words of OCC president and CEO, Rocco Rossi, the Chambers are "a non-partisan but aggressive and active voice for business" and it is why we are working very hard to prepare our community for the upcoming election with our lunch and learn session on May 16th and the candidate's debate on May 24th.
There will be other sessions over the weekend designed to help me and your Board do our jobs better and I'm looking forward to sharing that with you in future action and engagement.
And, I'm humbled and honoured to tell you that I've also been nominated to sit on the Board of Directors for the OCC as a member at large representing the Chamber network. I'm very excited to see what opportunity will develop out of this role.
Wishing you a great week ahead and please note all the events coming up this month. I hope to see you at one or more of them!
