I hope you will be able to find an opportunity to share gratitude with friends and family this Thanksgiving weekend – amidst the turmoil that surrounds us. From a business perspective, there was considerable dismay with the decision to close the consultation period for Federal Tax Reforms but I remain hopeful that the voice of small business has been heard with regard to the changes. CBC reported this week that Morneau says changes to tax proposals will be needed after weeks of outcry
And here is the link to sign the petition and support the #ProtectGrowth campaign… I continue to receive letters and articles regarding the potential impact and we will be hosting an information session in the coming weeks to discuss how you, as a business owner, will need to prepare for a worst case scenario. There is also a template letter available – this thanks our MP Neil Ellis for his appeal to consider changes to the tax reforms – but there is still time to tell your story. Your story as an active business is what will support our MP as he fights for small business – and goes against the party line.
We also have Board Elections open now for three positions on the Chamber Board of Directors. If you are interested in getting more involved in helping business prosper in our community – or know someone who should be – please complete the nomination form and submit it by Monday, October 23.
Don’t forget to register for the sessions during Quinte Business Week either. Registration is available directly from our site and details of the events can be found here…
Happy Thanksgiving!
