City of Belleville staff continue to work through the aftermath of yesterday’s significant weather event.
A number of traffic lights remain down throughout the city. Staff is working to restore them as quickly as possible. Drivers are reminded to treat all downed traffic lights as a four-way stop and to exercise caution when driving through impacted areas.
Bridge Street East at Plaza Square and Front Street at Pinnacle Street remain closed at this time. Please avoid the area and consider a different route where possible.
Transportation and Operations Services staff worked through the night to clear streets and sidewalks of fallen trees, branches and debris. Clean-up efforts are ongoing. Crews will be collecting trees and branches from residents’ curbs in the coming days and weeks. Please stay tuned to our website and social media channels for updates on this service. The Leaf and Yard Waste Depot located at 75 Wallbridge Cres. also remains open for residents to drop off fallen branches. Hours will be extended to include tomorrow and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. More information is available online.
Due to a number of fallen trees, the dog park at East Zwick’s Park will remain closed until staff is able to clear the area. We will provide an update when the park has reopened.
Elexicon Energy and Hydro One continue to work on restoring power to residents. Those impacted are encouraged to stay tuned to their outage map and social media channels for live updates.
