The City of Belleville is contracting the services of an e-commerce specialist to provide advice to Belleville businesses on the development or enhancement of their e-commerce platforms.
“As we navigate through the challenges imposed by COVID-19, businesses are faced with the necessity of adapting the way they conduct business,” stated Mayor Mitch Panciuk. “For many, an integral part of that transformation is to create an online presence that enables them to virtually conduct business. This is new territory for several and we hope the e-commerce specialist will be able to provide them with the support they need to make this transition in a smooth and timely manner.”
"The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has made it abundantly clear that e-commerce capability is an essential sales platform for many businesses,” said Karen Poste, Economic and Strategic Initiatives Manager, adding, "the current interruption of normal business sales practices presents a good opportunity for businesses to turn their attention to creating or updating their e-commerce/online capabilities.”
A Request for Proposal is available at belleville.bidsandtenders.ca/Module/Tenders/en for any businesses or individuals interested in providing this service.
Beginning May 11, 2020, the e-commerce specialist will advise and contribute to the creation of strategies to enhance the e-commerce capabilities of Belleville businesses and be available to assist individual businesses by assessing their current e-commerce needs, capabilities and platforms, and advise and direct them on developing and/or enhancing their capabilities and e-commerce presence.
The contract will run until August 7, 2020.
