The Small Business Centre (SBC) recognizes that small businesses need financial support now more than ever.

The Starter Company Plus grant is designed to provide some of that relief where possible. With a grant of up to $5,000, the application period is open until June 26, 2023. This grant is distributed on a first come first serve basis in consideration of the grant eligibilities until all funds have been allocated.
“This year we are placing priority on grant applications that can demonstrate how businesses are opening up new markets, new opportunities, or new local partnerships, however we encourage all businesses to apply” says Luc Fournier, Program Coordinator for the Small Business Centre. “We have all had 3 years of challenging time, now we are focusing on growth and renewing.”

The Starter Company Plus grant is a general use grant and can be used to purchasing equipment, new marketing opportunities, support with new business purchases (franchise) or supporting existing businesses in their expansions. For a full list of eligibilities please visit www.smallbusinessctr.com

“This grant is always well received by the recipients and we hope to continue providing it to those in need”, says Amber Darling, Executive Director for Trenval.  The program is designed to stimulate economic growth and create positive job impact, where possible, for our communities. SBC can accept applications from any business located in the City of Belleville, the City of Quinte West, Hastings County, Prince Edward County, and Lennox & Addington County.

If you apply for the grant and are denied, SBC offers ongoing supports to all businesses over and above the grant programs as well. Even if a business is not eligible for a grant they still have access to the full spectrum of resources and supports that are available year-round.

The Starter Company Plus grant is funded by the Government of Ontario through the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade in support of small businesses in the Province of Ontario.
