| Telemed Belleville now open and accepting patients | |

A new business has opened its doors in Belleville aimed at helping address the growing need for health care providers in the city, and in the region. Mayor Panciuk was in attendance to cut the ribbon and welcome TeleMed Belleville to the region. Also on hand for the celebration were councilors Tyler Allsopp and Garnet Thompson. MP Neil Ellis and David Joyce on behalf of MPP Todd Smith, Belleville Chamber President Peter Kempenaar and CEO Jill Raycroft also took part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Telemed MD is a leading virtual care provider focused on bridging the gap in patients receiving accessible and comprehensive health care, and it has opened a new office at 59 Dundas Street East in Belleville. The new facility will be the first specialist-focused centre that will provide a wide range of services including psychiatry consultations, addictions counselling and opioid management, weight management and walk-in care. It provides access to a panel of specialists that includes pediatrics, gynecology, dermatology and nephrology as well as lab services on site, and soon family medicine as well. Telemed MD provides online solutions and on-site virtual care facilities. With their team of Ontario certified Physicians, Specialists & on-site Nurses they continue to increase access and availability to virtual care. And their extensive network enables rapid access to a variety of specialists with significantly lower wait times. Additionally, specialized programs such as Opioid Management Program and Weight Management Program, are designed to tackle many on-going community health crises within Belleville. Communities differ across Ontario and that is why it is imperative that a circle of care is available, that makes it easier to facilitate any acute or chronic conditions that patients may have. By working closely with local community health partners such as Life Labs, Public Health, and Diagnostic Centers, TeleMed Belleville strives to provide that service.
